Prague roof-tops, Czech Republic

I usually find myself waiting ages for the 'right light' when taking a photograph. This time I found myself waiting ages for other people on the busy walkway before capturing this image of single pitched tiled roof tops familiar with European buildings. Fotoman 617 with Schneider 90mm, Fuji Provia ISO 100, Centre filter, f16 @1/2 second. Limited Edition: 300

St Petersburg, Russia

This image looking out across St Petersburg was taken from the top of St Isaac's Cathedral in the late afternoon. I was very happy with the result considering the strong winds, no tripod and a generous serve of vodka working against me at the time. Nikon D2x, 4 images merged, .6ND filter, f16 @1/4 second. Limited Edition: 300

Charles Bridge, Prague, Czech Republic

The hotel receptionist gave me a strange look as I passed him by whilst leaving my room hours before the sun had risen with my camera in hand. It was peaceful walking through the streets of Pargue without another person in sight and to then be rewarded with a deserted 'Charles Bridge' to photograph at my will. Fotoman 617 with Schneider 90mm, Fuji Provia ISO 100, Centre filter, .9 ND filter, f22 @6 minutes. Limited Edition: 300

Prague Castle, Czech Republic

It was not until my fourth nights stay in Prague that I was able to capture this image of Prague Castle with favourable lighting. It was a great evening to sit back watching the sun set behind the horizon with the castle gradually illuminating itself. Fotoman 617 with Schneider 90mm, Fuji Provia ISO 100, Centre filter, .9 ND filter, f22 @20 minutes. Limited Edition 300

Cesky Krumlov, Czech Republic

The colour of the leaves indicate the passing of another season around this 'timeless' heritage town in the Czech Republic. Fotoman 617 with Schneider 90mm, Fuji Provia ISO 100, Centre filter, .6 ND filter, f22 @1 second. Limited Edition: 300

St Basils Cathedral, Moscow

It was a truly overwhelming experience walking into Red Square for the vey first time. The buildings were magnificent, people were bustling, and the sound of a choir could be heard in the background from a nearby church. This image only depicts a small part of Red Square's beauty which could only be fully realised by seeing it in person. Nikon D2x, f22 @1/2 second. Limited Edition: 300

Steps to Prague, Czech Republic

I raced across the city in the early hours of the morning to climb my way up to Prague Castle in time for a sunrise photo across the city. The sunrise was not as I hoped so I started walking back to the hotel a little disappointed. Whilst walking back I saw this stairway from a different perspective which gave a great view leading back towards the city. Fotoman 617 with Schneider 90mm, Fuji Provia ISO 100, Centre filter, f45 @6 minutes. Limited Edition: 300

Streets of Venice, Italy

This man brushed by me as I was setting up to photograph a nearby canal. He caught my attention walking through this alleyway cast over with the early morning sun on this winter's day. This image always leaves me wondering as to where this man is going or coming from which helps add to the intrigue of the image. Limited Edition: 10

Dusk, Cesky Krumlov, Czech Republic

This image was taken late in the evening. It was my intention to create an image with a medieval feel. The low lighting has let me exaggerate the shutter speed giving the clouds a real windswept appearance. The low light has also kept the foreground free of excessive highlights giving the colours a soft transition with a gritty texture. Fotoman 617 with Schneider 90mm, Fuji Provia ISO 100, Centre filter, .9 ND filter, f45 @2 Minutes. Limited Edition: 300

The Louvre, Paris

I arrived early in the morning with the hope of taking this image without any people walking past. I found these illuminated pyramids intriguing set against the old buildings here at The Louvre. I liked how they helped illuminated and added colour to this image. Fuji Velvia, ND filter, f22 @ 6 minutes. Limited Edition: 300

Notre Dame, Paris

The Notre Dame was a must to photograph while visiting Paris. Given its orientation I had decided it would be best photographed during sunrise. The only thing I didn't check were the sunrise times in Paris. Being so keen I found myself trying to stay warm for two and a half hours waiting for the late winter sun to finally rise. It was still a great experience waiting and watching the city of Paris wake up. Fuji Velvia, ND filter, f22 @ 4 minutes.

Manarola, Cinque Terre, Italy

The things I liked most about these small villages dotted along the Cinque Terre is that the people living here seem to go about there daily business much like they would have when the villages were first built. I also liked the bright coloured houses which made a brilliant contrast against the subtle hues of the fading day. Fuji Velvia, ND Filter, f22 @12 minutes.

Venice, Italy

It was the middle of winter in Venice. The sun was late rising over the clouds just giving a hint of light rippling its way across the water highlighting the gondolas. Fuji Velvia, ND filterf22 1 second. Limited Edition:300

San Marco Square, Venice, Italy

I was walking back to the comfort of my warm hotel this cold morning when I realised the potential of this image. I had to hurry in setting up as the increasing strength of the sun would in turn burn out the scene too much. My next biggest issue were people walking in front of the camera during the exposure. Its times like these that really test my will. In the end I was successful after waiting for a small group of people running to disappear over my shoulder. There was just enough time to take an image before more people flooded the scene. Fuji Velvia, ND filter, f22 @ 6 seconds. Limited Edition: 300

Duamo, Florence, Italy

Florence is regarded by many as the worlds capital city of fashion. People certainly knew how to dress well here. I was setting up for this image early morning well before sunrise on a cold winter morning with no one around. To my amusement it appeared everyone had to live up to this cities high dress code as I watched an elderly lady barely able to walk in her high heels, dressed elaborately from head to toe with the chance of being seen walking her fluffed up pooch. Fuji Velvia, f45 @ 8 minutes.

Arno River, Florence, Italy

I couldn't have picked a colder spot waiting until such a time when all the street lights would be turned on to help add some warmth to this image. A nearby cafe was a welcome sight having taken this image providing me with a nice hot drink and toasty atmosphere. Fuji Velvia, ND filter, f22 @ 6 minutes.

The Seine River, Paris, France

Paris really does have the feel of the city of love. I best describe any photograph of Paris as romantic. The best part of taking this shot was really enjoying the contrast of how fast the pace of the city was behind me and how slow and enjoyable life on the river seems to be. Taking this shot could have only been made better with a bottle of red. (Of course this was my next stop!)

Eilean Donan, Scotland

The scene of an amazing castle left for ruins, such an eerie feeling surrounded this place, which I really think has left an imprint on this shot. It really makes you think of time gone by and those that have lived in harsher times centuries before us. Eilean Donan is the centre point for where three lochs meet, Loch Dulch, Loch Long and Loch Alsh. I sat patiently under a sturdy umbrella taking this image. Scottish weather at its finest!

Team that with the amazing celebrations hosted by the city during the month of December in the lead up to Christmas and you have a shine out destination to add to anyone's itinerary! Whitby, United Kingdom

An absolute must to see! Whitby Abbey sits alone on the hilltop overlooking her town. Whitby is famed for the setting of Bram Stoker's Dracula. A young Captain James Cook also learnt his seamanship here. The image encapsulated the feel of the town, leaving out one of Whitby's gems, the BEST fish and chips I've had, with also the biggest seagulls watching on! Whitby is situated on the East Coast of England looking out to the North Sea.

Lisbon

The cable cars certainly added another element to the street scene in Lisbonís old town. I had visited this location several times over the course of my visit to Lisbon trying to capture this scene with all the right elements. I tried pre-dawn on a few occasions but lucked out and had to rely on dusk, just as the street lanterns were warming up for the evening, casting a warm gentle light across the cobble stones. I really like the element of mystery this image conjures with its bent road curiously leading your eye to an undiscovered place in the city.

Siena, Tuscany, Italy

A recent trip to Italy found us wandering around little villages and vineyards in Tuscany. One village to the next offered some opportune spots to take interesting pictures, not to forget the amazing wine on offer! I arrived in Tuscany with the vision of capturing an image of the late afternoon Tuscan sun warming up the autumn sky that so many people are familiar. As the day rolled by so did my vision, with the promise of a threatening thunderstorm changing the conditions from pleasant too harsh in a matter of moments. Not being fully prepared for the weather, I found myself sitting in the comfort of the heated bus making my way back to the beautiful city of Siena. As the bus pulled back into Siena I grabbed some wet weather gear and made my way up to a suitable vantage point to take this image. With Morgan by my side holding an umbrella over our heads I managed to capture this scene with the storm rolling by helping to highlight the terracotta coloured buildings that are familiar with the Italian landscape. Duamo, Florence, Italy

Iíve been lucky enough to visit Italyís beautiful city of Florence on a number of occasions. I woke early to photograph key locations around the streets of Florence at days break. I was not successful in achieving any great photographs so I decided to go grab some food and coffee at one of Florenceís many cafes. I had only got halfway through my toasted pita bread breakfast and noticed the weather beginning to brood up a storm. I quickly finished my espresso and decided to pay the ten euro entrance fee to climb the twisting narrow staircase to the top of the bell tower which dominates the Florence skyline with its distinct red tiled roof that many people are so familiar with.
